In a recent national survey done by “National Survey of Life Stage Needs” reported in Crain’s Small Business (Godwin, Booke & Dickenson). Employees ranked an “employer-paid pension or retirement plan” and, “a matched retirement savings plan” as #2 and #3 respectively-just under top rated “medical insurance”
As the survey indicates, retirement plans can provide a powerful incentive in attracting and keeping the kind of workers you need to run a successful business. This is especially true for employers with less than 100 employees, since research shows that only a small percentage of these firms offer a contributory retirement plan.
